K HO1 starts [music] right now with a breaking news alert. >> Breaking news across Houston right [music] now. Police are searching for a suspect after what appears to be a home invasion ends [music] in gunfire and a large condo fire now burning again hours after the flames had been extinguished. Good morning. I’m Jacob Rasone here with Alona Carson.
We have a lot to get to this morning. Yeah, first let us start with that suspect search happening right now in Galina Park. Our Jalissa Garza joins us live from the scene this morning. Jalissa, what are you hearing from police? Hey Alona and Jacob, good morning.
Well, police are calling this an attempted home invasion. We do know that the homeowner and at least one of the suspects were shot. The second suspect still on the run at this hour. Police have not located them, but Houston police are still here on the scene investigating. Let me break down what they say happened.
Now, police tell us it was around 1:20 this morning when East Side patrol officers were dispatched to a shooting here. When they arrived, they learned the homeowner was inside his residence when two males approached the home. Police say a gunfight then ensued between the homeowner and the two males, who they say were possibly trying to break into the man’s home. The homeowner was shot at least one time and took himself to Houston Fire Station 23 where officers later located him and got his statement. Now, two blocks away on Avenue L, police say one of the suspects showed up knocking on a door.
So, officers went over there, found him with multiple gunshot wounds and took him into custody. Now, as of right now, like I mentioned, the second suspect still has not been found. Police say he possibly left this area in a car. It’s still unknown. They are looking for him and we’re here on the scene working to learn more.
In the meantime, if you have any information, you’re asked to call the Houston Police Department or Crimestoppers. We’re hoping to have another update for you coming up in the next hour. For now, reporting live near Galina Park, Jalissa Garca, KHOU 11 News. >> Jalissa, thank you. Right now we’re also following
