A Rosenberg man is accused of hiding a camera in the restroom of his business. Police say a female customer spotted it in the ceiling and became concerned. Jason Miles live outside the business on First Street with new reaction. Jason. Hey there guys.
Yeah, this cell phone and computer repair / pizza shop you see behind me is where police say they found a camera hidden in a bathroom ceiling. In fact, the owner was arrested yesterday right out here in the parking lot. Take a look. This is 41-year-old Umer Ali in custody. He’s charged with attempted invasive visual recording.
That’s the charge. It’s a class A misdemeanor here in Texas. Ali was booked into the Fort Bend County Jail and later posted a $30,000 bond according to the DA’s office. Police say they got a call after a female customer discovered a camera hidden in the ceiling of the restroom here at Ali’s business. That’s where we’re told officers later found the camera.
Right now, there’s no word on how long police think the camera may have been in the restroom or if anything was downloaded or saved from that camera. But neighboring business owners who know Ali are very surprised. I’m I’m shocked. You know, I’m I’m disappointed. I would say, you know, if this is what you you what they’re saying, this is really crazy and I never expected it.
Rosenberg police say they are still investigating this and additional charges may be filed. Anyone with additional information should call police or the Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers. Meanwhile, I’ll have much more on this coming up at 5:00 including how frankly hidden cameras are harder and harder to detect because they’re getting smaller and smaller. For now, reporting live from Rosenberg, Jason Miles, KHOU 11 News.
