Starting in lane eight, Dina Rasha Smith, former world champion 2019 in Doha and she was right at the top of the game. Still a world force in 200 and 100 meter running. British record holder. [Music] The Olympic champion Gabby Thomas serenely made her way through the rounds in Paris. Had such a great season last year.
Really looking forward to seeing a race here. the previously mentioned NASA of Bahrain. [Music] Last weekend in the Dominican Republic, she ran the quickest 400 in the world yet this year. Yes, it’s early, but she’s in good form. Then we’ve got Nikisha Price, the first Jamaican ever to run under 49 seconds and again a pretty decent 200 meter runner, but this not her main event.
Same for Alexis Holmes. a top nine times out of a top 10. We’re all set in 2024. So an improving athlete 25 year old as I said come over after the World Indoor Championships in China. Well, Pelino who moved to the 400 I guess probably in around about 2020 and has dominated that event certainly last year.
Titha Digs in lane two. And then Stacan Williams of Jamaica fresh from a new indoor 400 personal best lane one maybe tough in this 200 then what we’re looking for here. Well Palino needs to at least come out of here with at least five points because obviously to win you get a little boost with the 12 points to win the deuce. Um Gabby and uh Dena are really going to be battling for that and I think that they know that they’re going to have a good chance at that 100k if they jump out in front with the points in this early race. Spoke to Dena like yesterday and uh Dena actually said that she’s really focused on that for very confident about her too.
So uh that 400 is going to be something special when she gets out there. Dina Rasher Smith in lane eight. Gab Thomas Olympic champion in seven. safely away first time. Asher Smith got out pretty good.
NASA just got left a little bit. You’d expect that by the two spinners on the outside, but it’s Gabby Thomas around the top end who’s just got half a meter on Dina Asher Smith. And Thomas normally starts to go away from this point. NASA running well in third at the moment. And then there’s a battle with Palino charging down the last 30 40, but it’s going to be Gabby Thomas.
Asher Smith might just hang on here. It’s Gabby Thomas, but Palino with a real surge taking second place. And that will be really really significant. We expected Gabby Thomas to come away with a win 2262 in these conditions. That’s pretty swift.
That’s pretty good. But Palino that is significant. You get 12 points for winning. You get eight points for second. But when we cast this forward to the 400 tomorrow and the possible result there, let’s say the possible result that is significant for Palino.
is absolutely significant because she’s obviously going to do her thing in the fourth. For her to come second, I didn’t expect that, man. Gabby getting first place obviously makes sense. She’s the Olympic champion, but for Paulino to come out of there with those extra points, she’s going to end up getting she’s end up having a good chance at 100k. Dena always runs a pretty good turn transition in the home straight here.
Gabby Thomas just moved away. Just got that gap and it looked as though Dena was rallying again here. You know what? Gabby ran a much better turn than I expected.
She’s tall.
You don’t expect the taller sprinters to have such a good turn, but she’s efficient and once she gets on the straightaway unless those limbs go, I mean, she’s really, really hard to beat. I expected to be a lot tighter with her DA and we didn’t that wasn’t the case. But Paulina coming second at that race, I think, is the big story. Well, and so much hype has been on Gabby Thomas since the Olympics and then since she announced early on that she was going to be running this series of Grand Slams. So, how look at that huge smile.
She must feel really good breaking the tape. You know what? Well, you know, expected winner but not expected second. Let’s just check check the result there. 2262 as I mentioned, 2293.
It’s the season’s best cuz she hasn’t raced yet for Pino. But the most significant thing for her is finishing second. Dina Rash Smith took third spot. Lower down NASA as well.
You know, fourth good point.
Welcome back to the channel. Right here we are here with a 200 meter race the grand sam track event which was couple months ago where we have some great athletes. So right now pick champion Gabbitamus won the very first event in the grand slam track series taking D’s 200 meter win in the long sprint category to get her parents campaign off to the positive start. So in the grand slam track event, I know many of y’all are familiar with this event and this was the first event of the grand slam track in Jamaica. It was the 200 m and Gabby Thomas won.
Gabby Thomas arrived at the top of the bend behind Brit Dina Asha Smith but showed her strength to power home a time of 22.62 seconds.
Marlin Deino finished second a time of 22.93 seconds while Ashes Smith faded into third a time of 22.96 seconds.
Grand Slam Track will feature six event categories for men and women with each event category carrying two disciplines that competitors will compete in over the course of the weekend. Well, it’s that weekend. So this event was definitely a great event. So many great athletes came out and as I said Gabby Thomas Gabby Thomas won Fear and Square. I was kind of upset not seeing Sherikica Jax to compete in this 200 m but I was getting news that she had another race um day the day after overseas.
So I guess probably that’s why she didn’t get to compete in this 200 m. But needless definitely was a great one. Gabby Thomas was definitely running for a goal. And we all know um there was the there was the grand price of 100,000 US which is equivalent to $15 million in Jamaica. So that’s like a lot of money.
Yes. So we all know at least were coming out and literally doing their best to win that grand prize. However, definitely a great 200 m. So in first place you have Gabby Thomas with a time of 22.6 seconds.
Second place Paulino 22.93 seconds. Third place Dino Asher Smith 22.96 seconds. Fourth place, Naser, 22.
99 seconds. Fifth place, Diggs, 23 seconds. Sixth place, Alexis Holmes, 23.33 seconds. Seventh place, Williams, 23.
35 seconds.
And eighth place, Price 23.35 seconds. So that’s all the times for other athletes who competed in this 200 m. However, definitely a great race.
As I said, I was definitely looking out for Sherikica Jackson in this race. However, if you didn’t get to compete, but still a great race. Thanks for watching and do remember to subscribe. The goal is to reach 40k subscribers. So, if you haven’t subscribed as yet, you definitely need to do so.
