Brenham Fire Department Responds to 18-Wheeler Fire on Friday in Texas

The Brenham Fire Department responded to an 18-wheeler fire on Friday, April 3, 2026, as part of a busy day with five total calls. 

Incident Details

  • Location: The fire occurred on Highway 290 Westbound at Prairie Lea.
  • Response: Fire crews arrived to find the 18-wheeler on fire. They successfully extinguished the flames.
  • Hazmat Involvement: A HazMat Assessment Group was called to the scene to manage a diesel fuel spill resulting from the incident.
  • Traffic Impact: Local authorities, including KBTX’s Rusty Surette, warned of significant traffic delays at the intersection of Highway 290 and Prairie Lea while crews worked.
  • Status: The scene was cleared and all crews returned to service later that day. XX +3

This was one of several incidents the department handled on Friday, which also included a response to a camper fire early that morning in the 3100 block of Highway 36 South
