he’s a Grammy Award winner he has sold close to two million albums and he has a way with his guitar jazz guitarist Norman Brown is performing tonight at shame Park as part of the jazzy night series welcome to live in the deed thank you for being here thanks for having me here this is great he’s got the smooth tones too he’s like well an [ __ ] right loving the D baby Norman’s been playing guitar since he was eight years old yes started when I was eight years old heard my brother playing and I got stuck on it and that’s what I love to do Here I am yeah you and I were the same age I picked up the guitar when I was 13 I put it down when I was 13 okay all right for me I love it well you’ve worked with some great Stevie Wonder Boys two men what were those experiences like how it was wonderful as my introduction into the business my first album on Motown oh wow and you were Wes Montgomery Wes Montgomery was the big influence but it started with Jimi Hendrix Jimi Hendrix had the guitar screaming and hollering and it was just so expressive and I wanted to do that yeah one of the great so tell us about your CD let it go let it go let it go Wow it’s from the egyptian-themed sacrificed a lesser for the greater and then there is no sacrifice so let it go the CD starts off with the lessons of the Spirit which is what challenges in life are then we’re going to in keep coming back if you don’t learn the lesson it’s coming back how about that then we go to let it go let it go conversations whoo child’s gonna be all right it’s a beautiful CD oh that’s Michael Jackson man in the mirror how do you decide what tracks that were first a vocal would make a great jazz cover how do you pick a song like that well you know Wayman Tisdale I ain’t no stopping us now or get down on it you know are ya your case that’s the way love goes that’s right how do you pick a cover usually you have a special connection with it with the song first of all and it speaks a message that you want to convey and from there I’d take it there and play for a while and then I can tell if in these vocals or if it was with a guitar see so what are you gonna play for us now we’re gonna do that’s the way love go all right you’ll hear it again tonight at shane park whenever you are ready sir he’s come down we have Bob Bob McCall was a special guest tonight take it away thank you [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music]
